The “Satsuki” Restaurant is located right in the heart of old Kyoto. The “Satsuki” restaurant serves Traditional Kyoto Cuisine, with a variety of fish and vegetables.

It was founded by the present owner, Reiko Shibata and is now being managed by her daughter Sachiko Shibata.

Reiko spared no expense on decorating it to the highest standards in traditional Kyoto fashion.

It is now a very inviting, warm and cozy place, to enjoy a meal with your colleagues and friends in pleasant surroundings.

The staff are efficient friendly and helpful and always at hand.

For guests from abroad, there are alternative seats at the counter where they may find it more comfortable rather than to sit cross-legged, as in the Japanese style.

The summer in Kyoto get quite hot and in the olden days before air conditioning, people used to sit outside to take advantages of the cool breeze which blows along the river.

On nice evenings from the start of May until the middle of October, usually our guests eat outside and they can enjoy their meals on our “Noryo-Yuka” (Terrace).

This Kyoto style terrace overlooks the Kamo River and there is often a nice cool gentle breeze after sunset.

There is a nice view of the distant Mountains and there is a lovely atmosphere, as people enjoy their meals and drinks, while watching the light getting dimmer, as the dusk drops slowly in the evening.
